Nave Blues Are Using One Tool To Change Your Percetion Of Blues

You don’t often see a Harmonica as being the main focus of a bands music, but Nave Blues are changing it up, using the old to lay down the fresh sounds of the new.

Nave Blues are a band from Norway, with lead singer and harmonica player Nave Pundik leading the way. From an early age, Nave has always been a fan of the unique and different styles of bands such as Led Zeppelin, SuperTramp, Howlin Wolf, and Little Walter. Nave Blues have released songs for people to listen to, and with this, Nave plans to take his new, harmonica based music to the world with the  sounds that will invigorate everyone’s outlook on the blues.

From a delicate and thoughtful rendition of ‘Sitting on top of the world’, to moody track ‘The Ghost Collector’ brought to you from Nave himself. Their latest single ‘Posses you’ has been released and is available on YouTube, Soundcloud and other music streaming platforms.

This band is sure to be a band to watch out for in the near future.

Brighten your day with Matty T Wall

BLUE SKIES ALBUM COVER.jpgDescribing himself as ‘an elastic band pulled really tight and ready to go – that’s how I feel about my music’. Matty T Wall is influenced by various genres having studied Flamenco, Swing Jazz and funk as well as being pretty much a pro on the guitar, he has an interesting sound. He is from Perth, Australia, he states his influences are all the way from Robert Johnson to Jimi Hendrix… he gives a modern take on a very traditional form.

Blues is not something I’m too familiar with, but with this modern twist Matty carves into his music, I can’t help but think this is something I could really get into listening to.

His project ‘Blue Skies’ has ten tracks and he certainly blows away the autumnal clouds to give you Blue Skies, his music is that which can brighten up any day. He has a voice that just melts you, I was  mesmerised from start to finish, a stand out track for me was the opening track ‘Burnin’ Up Burnin’ Down, you can view the video below:

With a lot of power chords, it suits the rock and roll/blues vibe that Matty gives off. The video features muscle cars and attractive tattooed women with and lots of guitars. I found myself tapping my foot along to the beat and humming the vocals, not so well might I add but I tried.

Another stand out track for me is track six, ‘This Is Real’ in contrast to the opening track, this is a track full of emotion but with commanding guitars, it wouldn’t be Matty’s work if that wasn’t involved… I’d definitely recommend checking out Matty’s work, especially if you need a pick me up or something to brighten your day.

Guitar, drums and bass trio in Neil C Young’s new track

Featuring perfect blends of bass, drums and jazzy guitar melodies, Young has created a real crowd pleasing track. Young’s effortless style draws on fusion players such as John Scofield but also more contemporary bands like Troika. This interesting mix has meant that Jamie Cullum has reccomended him as gig of the week on several occasions.

Young has remained witty and down to earth despite the hype surrounding his music. He is also calm with regards to the possible confusion surrounding his name which he shares one of the most famous songwriters of the last 50 years.

His success has been world wide, which has allowed him to play gigs globally from the UK to South America.

Now focusing on his UK fan base  Young has many upcoming gigs in support of his new material:

Wednesday 20th July- The Blue Piano, Birmingham

Saturday 30thJuly – Cloudspotting Festival, Gisburn

Thursday 11th August – Matt and Phreds, Manchester

Friday 26th August – The Venue, Colne (Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival)

Friday 23rd September – Priory Hall, Lancaster

Cherry White set to precede new EP ‘Staring at the Sun’ with stylish single ‘Drifter’

Capture

Currently building a buzz with their live shows in and around London, Cherry White have now taken to the studio to record a brand new EP, ‘Staring at the Sun’. Inspired by life in London during this austerity era, surrounded by the greed of the wealthy, the tracks circle around an aspiration to reach higher and achieve their goals in the music industry and beyond.

The EP is led out of the gate by single ‘Drifter’, which will be released on June 1st, one week prior to the full EP:

‘Drifter’ to be released 1st June, followed by EP on 8th June

Engineered at Bark Studios by the excellent Brian O’Shaughnessy (Primal Scream, The Firm, My Bloody Valentine), the EP does a fantastic job of capturing the frenetic energy of a band who thrive on a live environment.

Cherry White’s live reputation was cemented at ‘Togfest’ in 2014, where their festival debut to a huge crowd was so well received they immediately sold out of albums. Having also taken to the stage at some of London’s top venues, including The Troubadour, Hope and Anchor (Islington) and Covent Garden Arts Theatre, their reputation in our fair capital is beginning to grow. Further afield, a BBC Wales live session a number of years ago proved there’s life outside the city for this eclectic group.

Kinky Dove ready to rock out with their 3 track release

3 track release set to be unleashed on June 15th

Born in in Australia but now living in London, Kindy Dove is the musical moniker of frontman Scott Wade and his evolving collective of musicians. Progenitors of gritty, driving rock, the group are readying themselves for a fresh assault on the music industry with a brand new three track EP.

scott_2

Their particular brand of rock and roll, defined in many ways by the bluesy, post-rock growl of Wade on vocals, is currently in short supply both nationally and globally, and Kinky Dove are now looking to redress that balance.

For a taste of their punchy style, check out the video to EP track ‘Some Kind of Fool’, featuring an epic slap-happy montage of Hollywood moments.

The EP also features a remix/cover version of classic 1978 track ‘Another Girl Another Planet’ by The Only Ones – in this case titled simply ‘Another Girl’.

There is also a trance remix of ‘It’s Called Heartache’ on the EP. You can find the video for this at

The EP is online at

Produced by Chris Kimsey, previously of Olympic Studios, the EP marks Kinky Dove out as one of the earthiest rock bands on the scene. Fans of Scott Wade and Kinky Dove before they began working together, the producer clicked with the style and heights straight away at which the music was aiming, and helped mould that vision into the musical reality that Kinky Dove has become.

The CD was mixed by Wade. Studio legend Phill Brown loved the sound of the CD, commenting that the mixes were “open and alive.”

The resulting EP is a continuation of form from previous album ‘Kinky Dove vol. 1’, and the latest step in Kinky Dove’s  climb.
