Dancing Mood – The First in a Wave of Theatrical Showtunes?

Here’s an oddity – coming across as an up-tempo number for a theatrical show, Ben Ridley has potentially cornered an untapped market! Dancing Mood, his first single released as a singer-songwriter, comes after a successful career as a classical composer and pianist. Though still demonstrating a certain musical prowess, it’s certainly got “something”…

Look Back in Fondness – Donegan Release “Reminisce”

Newly released this week, the first single from Donegan, a two-piece family band featuring Thomas and Emmett, whose “Reminisce” reflects a project that extends back a full twenty years from its inception.

Pulled from their forthcoming debut album, described as a concept album about love (though that would cover quite a few albums we reckon!), it’s the kind of slightly dreamy, indie-pop which flourished in the 1990’s. There’s certainly something quite endearing about the Casio-esque synth sound, whilst the chorus has the nagging, earworm quality that all effective pop songs should have. Have a listen here:

GOOD CHARLOTTE REVEALED AS SLAM DUNK FESTIVAL’S JOINT-HEADLINER WITH JIMMY EAT WORLD

One of 2017’s most guarded secrets can now be revealed… Slam Dunk Festival will have not one, but two major headline artists! Pop-punk titans Good Charlotte will be joining the previously announced emo-rock legends Jimmy Eat World. Their co-headline performance is set to be a defining moment for the festival as it marks the Slam Dunk Festival debut of both show-stopping artists.
This ground-breaking line-up news will also see PVRIS, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes, Creeper, Thursday, Every Time I Die, Knuckle Puck, Crown The Empire and Real Friends, perform momental live sets over the May Bank Holiday weekend.

From bursting into the public consciousness with their chart-conquering pop punk through to becoming true kings of their genre via stints on MTV and six huge studio albums, few bands have had the staying power of Good Charlotte. Lead by the Madden brothers Benji and Joel, the multi-platinum stars will be at Slam Dunk to prove exactly why they’ve stayed at the top of their game over the past two decades.

Few bands have had the stratospheric rise of Massachusetts three piece PVRIS. Since their inception in 2012 they’ve gone from strength to strength and garnered a legion of fans in the process. Next year they’ll bring their signature anthemic rock, as found on this year’s acclaimed full length ‘All We Know Of Heaven, All We Need Of Hell’, to Hatfield, Leeds and Birmingham for a show that’s not to be missed. They last played the festival in 2015, after which being originally booked for the new bands stage were upgraded to the main stage due to their sudden rise in popularity. Now they return in 2018 to be one of the festival’s biggest artists.

One of the most incendiary live acts on the planet, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes are a band born to reach staggering heights. After standing as one of the most recognisable voices in modern British rock over the past decade, Frank and his Rattlesnakes have had a mammoth rise over the past 18 months – releasing two vastly acclaimed albums, capturing festival audiences with sets of the weekends and culminating in their biggest headline show to date at London’s Brixton Academy. Witness the revolution first hand when they take the stage at Slam Dunk 2018.

Frank Carter says:
‘I cannot wait to play Slam Dunk – this has been an incredible couple of years for us, and I can’t think of a better way to start our festival season in 2018 than showing up and absolutely dominating at Slam Dunk. Get ready – we’ll see you in the Snake pit!’

A phenomenon not seen for many a-year, Creeper are the hottest name in alternative music. The release of their debut album ‘Eternity, In Your Arms’ captured the mysterious yet anthemic heights that they’ve been promising since they first emerged on the scene. Lead from the charismatic figure of frontman Will Gould, Creeper aren’t just set to break through but takeover British alternative music – and Slam Dunk 2018 is bound to be another insatiable introduction to the special world they’re forming

Creeper say:
“It is with great excitement that we can announce today that we will be returning to Slam Dunk festival in 2018. Slam Dunk is always such an important event for our scene each year, and it is an incredible privilege to be playing the main stage. See you all there!”

After seven years away, Thursday will return to the UK in 2018, with Slam Dunk Festival the only place to catch one of the most hotly-anticipated reunions in alt-rock history. Lead by the inimitable presence of frontman Geoff Rickly, Thursday reached out and touched at the hearts and minds of a generation – with records like ‘Full Collapse’ and ‘War All The Time’ still heralded as some of the most influential snapshots in time that the genre has ever seen. After time spent apart, and a feverish demand for their return – Slam Dunk 2018 is primed for a truly special moment as Thursday finally return to prove just why they sit in a class of their own. Having having played the very first Slam Dunk Festival in 2007, it is indeed a momentous welcome back!

After last playing Slam Dunk in 2016, metalcore titans Every Time I Die can’t stay away and have promised more chaos in the moshpit than ever before. The Buffalo hardcore heavyweights have gained vast recognition on this year’s UK tour run, selling out the likes of KOKO, receiving 5Ks and delivering a visceral display of their force. Their performance will be an unmissable part of Slam Dunk 2018.

Joining these incredible names will be Crown The Empire, Real Friends and Knuckle Puck, all of which are set to return to the festival after memorable performances in 2014 and 2015. All three acts are set to serve up the perfect combination of anthemic metalcore complete with razor-sharp riffs, energetic post-emo choruses and classic pop-punk with an Illinois twist, May is set to deliver the best Slam Dunk Festival to date!

After its most successful year to date in 2017, Slam Dunk Festival has been crowned the Best Metropolitan Festival at the UK Festival Awards! The news comes after the first huge names were announced for 2018, along with details of an expanded and new site for Slam Dunk South at Hatfield Park.
Over double the size of the previous location, Hatfield Park is located in the grounds of Hatfield House and situated directly opposite Hatfield train station, making it even more accessible and accommodating for festival goers wishing to revel in Slam Dunk Festival’s alternative extravaganza.
Festival Director, Ben Ray comments:
“I’m very happy to win this award of course. The event that we put on is very unique, with each of the 3 metropolitan sites offering something different….The fenced off festival site built in a city centre in Leeds, the only multistage music festival to be held on the NEC complex and I’m glad after 8 years on the university campus in Hatfield we could win the award for them the final time there.”
Slam Dunk Festival 2018 will begin in its spiritual home of Leeds, Millennium Square, before travelling to the new location of Hatfield Park, and finishing at the beloved Birmingham NEC.

Adam Lanceley, A Master At Making The Music Of Today

Adam Lanceley, someone living life to the fullest.

He was told all of his life, that he may not survive, walk or live life the same way ever again. At the age of 10, he was involved in a car crash, that caused serious brain and spinal injury.

Adams Mother and Father were told that firstly, he would not survive, however he did, but being warned that he may never walk again, he took that as a challenge.

Now successfully completing Marathons, Adams latest venture is a visit down the musical path, with the release of ‘A Film We All Saw’.

This soft rock pop track is a fun, charismatic tune that will have any listeners singing along, tapping there foot to the great song from the aspiring musician.

Disturbing new Video from Mavis Victory Project. We Like!

Blimey. We didn’t expect that. On paper, the inventively-monikered Mavis Victory Project come across as a bit Arctic Monkeys – edgy without being sharp enough to cut yourself particularly seriously. We may have been mistaken.

We’re not entirely certain we know what’s going on in the video. The singer, one of four brothers in the band, starts off horizontal, much in the same way he sings but he seems to have invited some unusual friends over. If they were banning videos purely for being suggestive, this would have to be buried at sea. Somehow, even though it’s largely down to some saucy looks given by the ladies in the video, we feel utterly filthy. What’s happened to us?!

As we progress, we end up in a warehouse populated with torch-bearing hooded sorts with the odd flag being wafted. We’ve gone on holiday by mistake, as it says in the film. Has this anything to do with the song or is the whole thing signing us up for conscription to a life in a dodgy cult. We’re going along with it, anything for a bit of sleaze.

Eden Royals Return with New EP

Essex based indie-pop quartet, Eden Royals, are back exploring the ‘getting by’ lifestyle of the everyday in their new EP, Time Won’t Wait.

It’s been over a year since the band last released a track, but they’ve stuck to their guitar led sound, full of pop hooks and nifty musicianship. All this paired with the well-crafted lyrics of front-man, Lloyd Buck, make for a potent musical combination.

Over the past year, the boys have been touring in America with 90s cult band, Third Eye Blind, and they’ve even performed on the same stage as Bastille and King Krule back in 2015 at Liverpool Sound City Festival. Constantly building their live experiences, you know that Eden Royals will be set to share their new EP on the stage when it comes out March 10th.

With varying musical backgrounds, the boys each bring something different to the set up of the band. John has experience playing in a Beatles tribute band, whilst Lloyd has found fame featuring in music videos for Paul McCartney and Pete Doherty. However, as a band, Eden Royals have seen themselves on BBC Introducing Essex and This Morning.

The EP isn’t out yet but you can watch the video for Eden Royals’ last single ‘Close To The Sun’ here:

Corinna Jane’s Rock-Infused ‘Three Faces of You’

Corinna Jane is making waves in the popular music scene with her unmistakably individual rock-pop style, which is best exhibited on her latest guitar driven single, ‘Three Faces of You’.

Having grown up in the MTV era of the 90s, Corinna has always been drawn to music and by the age of five she was already taking singing and piano lessons. It wasn’t long after that she began writing her own songs as a teenager and finding her own unique style as a musician.

‘Three Faces of You’ is a stormer of a track blending clever lyricism on Corinna’s part, along with an intriguing blend of violins and electric guitar. The track focuses on a former relationship with someone who seemed to live in their own fantasy world, with unpredictable tendencies. Consequently, Corinna’s track has a true, relatable meaning to it as well as features of quality musicianship and songwriting.

The keen actress, model and radio presenter has a quirky style and personality, which has led to her receiving airplay on the likes of BBC Radio 6, Amazing Radio and BBC Introducing and making the top 5 solo artists at the Rock The House Competition.

Adam Lanceley- ‘Those Rose Tinted Days’

London based singer-songwriter Adam Lanceley has returned with his fifth album, Postcards from Then, which features the summer-vibe fuelled track, ‘Those Rose Tinted Days’.

After being involved in a tragic car crash at the age of ten, Adam was given little hope of survival and was told he would at least never walk again. However, his determination has helped him overcome life’s obstacles and since then has focused his attention towards penning his feelings down through the cathartic medium of songwriting.

Along with his large back catalogue of five albums to his name, Adam has also ran the London marathon for the Brain and Spine Foundation with whom he raises money since his head injury.

Adam favours unusual instrumentation and a spur-of-the-moment song writing ethos that embraces deep emotions in the same way that the delivery of his songs does.

‘Those Rose Tinted Days’ is a powerful, reminiscent anthem driven by sun-drenched guitar riffs and backed up with Adam’s punchy vocal stylings that reflect his honest and considered approach towards music. When it comes to lyrical inspiration, Adam’s mantra ‘as long as it means something to you’ makes itself evident through contemplative topics and cryptic poetics.
