‘New Man’ by Warme

Warme’s new song “New Man” is an honest portrayal of a dark subject. Based on the heroin problems of one of the band members this track is powerfully emotional and sets a very different tone in comparison to their last release “Council House Opera”.

The song starts of slowly and carried by a melancholic gravity that suggests the struggle someone goes through during a drug addiction. It then progressively builds up to a more hopeful and brighter atmosphere. Warme have captured the story of overcoming tough times and recovery perfectly. It’s a song of hope and strength and the personal touch the band puts into it makes it all the more authentic and interesting.

Bristol Folk band ‘Apple of My Eye’ are set to sail folk scene with new album ‘Seven Tides’

Soo maybe not heavy on the guitar, but we still absolutely love these guys!

Contemporary folk band, ‘Apple Of My Eye’ announce release of new album ‘Seven Tides’, due out 1st December.  Beautifully arranged epic songs in a unique twist on classic folk themes.

Now living in London, the majority of the band hail from the historic maritime city of Bristol and their songs draw inspiration from both cities and from the sea, a theme that runs throughout their second album. Their engaging storytelling style and four part harmonies explore tales of love, loss, adventure and ruin.

The album was recorded at Cowshed Studios and engineered by the hugely respected folk and jazz engineer Joe Leach. They decided to record the entire thing on 2 inch, 24 track analogue recording tape to give a warmer and richer sound than digital techniques.

Having spent the summer performing at some of the most exciting festivals in the UK, including, Tall Ships Festival Greenwich, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness and headlining Exile festival in Sheffield, the band are flourishing into an exciting folk force, not to be missed.

The band describe their music as “brand new old songs” and collectively generate all their own material drawing on personal experiences and carefully arranging the music on the guitar, bouzouki, violin, double bass, mandolin and harmonica.

Band member Chris Rusbridge lives on a narrow boat on the waterways of London, where often a rehearsal will turn in to a performance as passers by become a listening crowd. No London public house is safe from the spontaneous band. They are well known for bursting into song and entertaining the drinkers of London pubs.

Catch the guys live in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gsyM68eQux4

The band boasts an impressive hoard of musical talent:

Kit Massey (Violin) and Phil Cornwell (Bass) are both full time professional musicians. Cornwell is the musical director of West End musical “The Scotsboro Boys’’ and Massey  was formally a violinist with the Santiago Philamonia in Chile and has worked as a session musician with artists such as Emile Sande, Dizzie Rascal, Muse and Jamie Cullum. Arran Glass (Vocals and Guitar) and Alex Scott (Mandolin) are both professional Actor-Musicians and Puppeteers who perform and compose the music for a variety of theatre and television. Chris (Bouzouki), Dan (Harmonica) and Ellie Rusbridge (Vocals) are all siblings and come from a rich folk music heritage as their parents met in a folk club and still perform in their own folk band Thornbridge.

Keep up with the guys here

SouLost get heavy with ‘The Way I Feel Pt. 2’ EP

Electronic rock group set for first four piece EP on September 1st

SouLost_02

Having released last February’s ‘The Way I Feel Pt. 1’ EP as an electronic-rock three piece, SouLost return with part two this Autumn with an added bassist and a brand new sound.

‘The Way I Feel Pt. 2’ marks an evolution of sound from the London based group, with new bassist Lux joining Ceira (vocals), Stef (guitar/songwriter) and Law (drums) to create a heavier, more expansive sound that veers closer to melodic speed rock than the songs on its predecessor.

For a taste, check out this sneak peak – EP track ‘Without Me’:

https://soundcloud.com/soulostofficial/without-me/s-jnDQT

Boasting a brilliant female vocal and a huge, layered sound, the track indicates a genuine step forward for the band in terms of sound, and should see them build on support already garnered for their first EP.

The lead track from ‘The Way I Feel Pt. 1’ was titled ‘Save Me’, and saw SouLost featured on the Best of British Unsigned playlist, leading to airplay in 16 countries over 88 radio stations. It was also featured on Amazing Radio’s ‘Amazing Rock Show’ playlist upon release, and SouLost will be hoping their new direction provokes similarly positive feedback.

Not bad at all for an EP written by Stef during a 6 hour wait to be rescued with a broken down car.

‘The Way I Feel Pt. 2’ is available from September 1st

Den Haag head into the ‘Bleak Unknown’ with their 2nd release

Den Haag Bleak UnknownFollowing the release of EP ‘Trials & Tributes’ in 2012, Post-Punk/Coldwave devotees Den Haag closed 2013 by announcing the arrival of their new album ‘Bleak Unknown’.

Available January 2014, the album sees the return of their varied take on punk etiquette, from the straight up energy of ‘London Way’ to the more spaced out likes of ‘Nobodyism’. The nine song collection represents a real step forward for the South East four piece, bringing their trademark cynicism to a varied collection that is, by turns, both contemplative and balls out rock.

Haunted video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hc05bMZgHpc

Founded on a mutual love of 80’s New Wave music, Den Haag are a band who are sure of their core sound but not afraid to explore new territory as well, making for a varied and compelling album.

Released through Zorch Factory Records and Kroosafix records, the album will be available to stream for free, with a higher quality version available for purchase on iTunes. It’s a double release method that worked well with ‘Trials & Tributes’, and stands the band in good stead as they continue to grow.
