Yo New Single ‘Shake It’ ready for release

New indie single with a hint of soul set to hit on June 15th

Capture

Currently living in New Orleans – the birthplace of soul and jazz – Yo are a rock band not afraid to make a statement. After travelling the globe and making homes in various corners of the USA and Europe, the music and songwriting draws upon a wealth of inspirations and tales from the road. This latest single has been taken from the album this is the fun loving, punk laced track ‘Shake It’ – with amazing punchy bass-lines, quasi-spoken vocals and a funky beat.

You can hear the track here:

Watch the video here:

The single is taken from the album ‘Vagrancy’, an LP which demonstrates perfectly the versatile nature of Yo’s song writing. Songs such as ‘Shake It’ are seemingly built for the high energy of live performance, but other tracks on the album suit different environments. Whether chilling out at a festival, going for it on a club dance floor, jumping around at a live gig or relaxing in a local pub, there will be a song on this album which fits perfectly to every situation.

Altogether, it makes for a great hit, sewn together by the originality of vocalist Andre’s delivery.

Single ‘Shake It’ will be available from June 15th.

Kinky Dove ready to rock out with their 3 track release

3 track release set to be unleashed on June 15th

Born in in Australia but now living in London, Kindy Dove is the musical moniker of frontman Scott Wade and his evolving collective of musicians. Progenitors of gritty, driving rock, the group are readying themselves for a fresh assault on the music industry with a brand new three track EP.

scott_2

Their particular brand of rock and roll, defined in many ways by the bluesy, post-rock growl of Wade on vocals, is currently in short supply both nationally and globally, and Kinky Dove are now looking to redress that balance.

For a taste of their punchy style, check out the video to EP track ‘Some Kind of Fool’, featuring an epic slap-happy montage of Hollywood moments.

The EP also features a remix/cover version of classic 1978 track ‘Another Girl Another Planet’ by The Only Ones – in this case titled simply ‘Another Girl’.

There is also a trance remix of ‘It’s Called Heartache’ on the EP. You can find the video for this at

The EP is online at

Produced by Chris Kimsey, previously of Olympic Studios, the EP marks Kinky Dove out as one of the earthiest rock bands on the scene. Fans of Scott Wade and Kinky Dove before they began working together, the producer clicked with the style and heights straight away at which the music was aiming, and helped mould that vision into the musical reality that Kinky Dove has become.

The CD was mixed by Wade. Studio legend Phill Brown loved the sound of the CD, commenting that the mixes were “open and alive.”

The resulting EP is a continuation of form from previous album ‘Kinky Dove vol. 1’, and the latest step in Kinky Dove’s  climb.

Wings of Pegasus new rock track ‘That’s Metal (To My Ears)’

Wings of Pegasus

Hard rock with an 80s twist inspired by the likes of Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Dokken and more, Wings of Pegasus are a rock band with a big sound and a fresh approach to the music industry. With new single ‘That’s Metal (To My Ears)’ due in May, the band are running a campaign called ‘Make Chart History’, aiming to take the independent release to the very top of the charts, all the while donating the proceeds to Cancer Research UK.

Hoping to whip up a groundswell of support, songwriter Fil Henley is working hard to spread the word on the campaign as well as the single itself – an independently produced homage to old 80’s bands with big hair and screeching guitar solos. Designed to encourage listeners to dust off the air guitar, it’s great fun and the most light hearted track on the ‘Persistence’ album, which is out now.

  • Single from debut album ‘Persistence’ out May 10th
  • Raising money for Cancer Research UK through the ‘Make Chart History’ Campaign

The hard work is also typified by Fil Henley’s dedication to conversing personally with all the fans on Twitter, and with the number of followers standing at over 50,000, that’s a lot of messages! It doesn’t hurt that the band have the talent to back up the graft, as proven by their appearance in the final of the ‘Unsigned Festival 2010’ at the IndigO2 venue. Finishing 3rd out of 12,000 bands, it was a huge boost to the group who haven’t looked back since.

Noel and the Pandas Release New Single ‘Wondering Love’

2nd Single Press Image

An eclectic Indie rock band from Italy, Noel and the Pandas are exciting group add a variety of ideas to their rock roots. Their debut album ‘In the Art of Doom’ sees them on sparkling form, and the latest single is no exception. With great electronic touches and even a jazz feel thanks to a beautifully lonely sounding trumpet melody, the song’s gradual build then transforms it into a thumping anthem for the close, making it one of the very best on an excellent album.

You can hear the song, ‘Wondering Love’, here:

Produced by guitarist Nicola Rosti, the debut album marked them out as the hottest new alternative rock sound to emerge from Italy, and that’s a reputation that is only likely to grow with singles like this.

The lyrics, written by band founder Noel, are a typically wistful reflection on his own history. His is a story of riches to rags, and after a promising career as a banker was ended overnight, he has picked himself back up from a life of destitution using nothing but his music and the experiences he has to write about. The power of music to move and transform those who make and hear it is often underestimated, but Noel is living proof that – with enough talent and determination – it’s possible to come back from the brink.

‘Wondering Love’ is released on March 2nd.

‘Only One’ the new single from sincere singer-songwriter Jessie Lowes

IMG_103622016929500

One of Northumberland’s most talented emerging artists, acoustic singer-songwriter, Jessie Lowes is set to release her new single ‘Only One’ November 28th. Following the success of her last single ‘Stars’, Lowes popularity  has soared as she gains national recognition for her beautiful,  emotive music.

True to Lowes style of raw and emotive lyrics, the new track explores the heartbreak of losing someone you love, in an honest and heartfelt manner.

Lowes life has not been an easy journey and she has been through a series of testing and turbulent times. Spending some of her early life in foster care, music has always been the one constant in Lowes’ life.

Recent years have also been tough on Lowes as she lost her mother of whom she was very close with and has suffered the agony of a marital breakup. The talented Lowes transforms the pain of these torturing times into beautifully moving music that speaks directly from her heart to the audience.

An ex-cage fighter and club level rugby player, Lowes’ masculine background contrasts her delicate lyrics and soulful delivery. Lowes music delves into the depths of human emotion and beautifully expresses the pain and beauty of life.

Lowes has recently released the video for ‘Only One’. The video aptly captures Lowes heartache, delivering a powerful and moving visual of the raw emotion Lowes emits.

Roots songwriter John Fairhurst set to debut new trio with upcoming singles and LP

First single ‘Breakdown’ released August 18th, followed by ‘No Shelter’ September 27th

Album ‘Saltwater’ released October 18th

Bristol based, the John Fairhurst Band are a newly formed trio fronted by their eponymous songwriter. Drawing from Rock, blues and world music, with a penchant for slide guitar and a distinctive deep growling voice, his songs, delivered in pure raconteur style, narrate all the hardships of life on the road

For the first time, John Fairhurst will be releasing his new album – and the preceding singles – accompanied by a powerhouse rhythm section of Bristols young guns: Toby Murray & Pete Episcopo.

For a taste of their sound, check out this video for ‘Breakdown’:

http://youtu.be/2_FazFk_EGw

The new releases is a turning point in the career of John Fairhurst, marking the shift from solo artist and duo member to power rock blues trio. In the course of his career so far, he has spent the last decade travelling the world and supported the likes of Fun Lovin’ Criminals, performed with world beatbox champions Bellatrix and Reeps1 and the late, great, blues legend Johnny Winter. He includes Winter among his fans, as well as Robbie Macintosh of The Pretenders and Indian Sarod Master, K Sridhar– just a small indication of the quality of his live show.

The new material is the fruit of first class production: Alex Beitzke (Jamiroquai, Florence and The Machine, Nigel Kennedy, Ed Sheeran, Prince) , Paul Cartledge (Tony Visconti) and mastering engineer Ray Staff (Led Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Clash).

This fantastic pedigree of collaborators is the result of a prolific approach to gigging, playing between 200-250 gigs a year between 2011 and 2014. Highlights include taking to the stage at SXSW in Austin, Texas, playing the Roundhouse in London and opening for Johnny Winter on his European Tour. That’s not to mention countless festival appearances and 35 gigs at Glastonbury alone since 2008, including a performance this year on The Glade Stage.

All highly impressive for a career that he “fell into” almost by chance. Taking a tumble down an unmarked manhole while labouring on a building site, Fairhurst had little mobility for a year following a serious knee injury. He used some of the money from the accident compensation to immediately buy a National Resonator guitar, playing it incessantly for the year he was bed bound, truly feeling the blues. It’s during this year that he really developed virtuoso finger-picking techniques and found the sound which carried him across four continents.

Midlands rock Band sign with Small Town Records!

LockandKey

Small Town Records have now signed the Midlands based rock group, Lock & Key.

Lock & Key are a band who have been together no longer than 5 months, but have already whet the appetite with their raw and honest brand of Hardcore, on debut tracks ‘So Alone’ (garnering 78,000 YouTube views) and ‘No Acceptance’ (23,000 in a month).

The real reaction online is born from the intense and already fairly relentless touring. To use the phrase passionate live performances would be a disservice. Frontman Richard Lardner says; “I know every band says it but we’ve all been through some rough times and our sole aim at every show is trying to get the audience to feel at least a part of the songs.  I always hope there’s someone who sees the message within the lyrics.”

A message the band has already carried across the UK and mainland Europe alongside names such as Deez Nuts, Devil In Me, Demoraliser, Despite My Deepest Fear, Dead Harts, Broken Teeth etc.

The band will release their debut EP on Small Town Records in the coming months.

No acceptance the bands latest single, demonstrates style, class and a clash of guitars and percussion instruments. The video is masterfully put together. They freeze the music to build dramatic tension at the beginning, before unleashing the floodgates of hell upon your eardrums with the vocalist leading the screaming charge. Also, there is a pretty slaughterous guitar solo throughout the song, check out the video below!

The Enigmatic Vagabond Flag Debuts ‘Not Afraid’, June 16th from Debut Album out July 4th

Vagabond Flag is somewhat of an enigma. His focus is on the music pure and simple; he made the decision to produce an album of quality music, which he was absolutely proud of, before releasing anything publicly. Quite a refreshing approach.

Vagabond Flag’s background is steeped in emotional conflict and tension. He was, like most of us, affected by the 9/11 terror attacks in New York. He started to notice previously thinly masked social divides and became aware that culturally and racially the West was far more paranoid and far less secure than it had previously considered itself. He also saw that the way countries like the US and the UK responded sought only to compound the effects of terror by clamping down on liberty, rather than working against it. These thoughts, which were inescapable at the time, fuelled the fire for Vagabond Flag and encouraged him to return to his love of music. He always knew he had songs and stories in him – it was just a matter of amassing the courage to take some time out from his day job and get writing and recording.

Vagabond Flag’s debut release, ‘Not Afraid’, incorporates these ideas and puts them into words which resonate politically today. He sings:

“You think I’ll turn and hide because you think in this world the strong survive You think you own this world…

So you can try to get me to run

But I’m not afraid of you

No I’m not afraid of you“

Listen to the track here: https://soundcloud.com/vagabond-flag

These are undoubtedly words which protesters from Kiev to Cairo might find poignant today. Musically, ‘Not Afraid’ draws on a Lo-fi indie inspired sound reminiscent of 90s garage rock. Clearly Vagabond Flag draws musical influence from the likes of early Oasis or Pixies, and lyrically from thoughtful and quality acts such as Eels or Radiohead. On top of this Vagabond Flag himself claims that his musical inspirations range from house / DnB artists like Photek to modern R&B legends like Erykah Badu. Despite, Vagabond Flag’s clear ideological drive to write and the influence of his background, his main inspirations come from the world of music. He is an artist and ultimately just wants to put into words and notes what is happening in his head – an admirable objective in itself.
